I’ve been thinking that we need
a place to have deeper conversation & more interaction
privately. Google Groups is what we
have found to be the best fit for the In Real Life
community. The goal for this additional place is for us to grow deeper in our relationships by
having conversations beyond what is limited on the blog. The community is
private, so it can’t be found by search
engines. Only those who subscribe to the blog
can join.
This will also be a place for us to announce events, new books, blogging opportunities (by you!), prayer requests, or just have a chat. You choose
There will be rules and guidelines to adhere to, and these will be posted and available before the end of the month. In the meantime I know you’ll still treat each other with respect and love, just like you always do. Anything that goes outside those bounds will, of course, be removed.
A few details:
You will need to create a Google profile to participate, and it’s up to you how much information is visible. For this reason you can also choose to use your parent’s Google Profile if you (and they) would rather. There is an option to select your screen name for the Group (Simply go to “My Membership” to adjust your settings on how people can view you and your information). It is very important that we’re we are able to see these names (we being, Leah, Miss Crystal, and myself)and that the name match what you use on the blog so we can keep track of who is who. If for any reason we are skeptical of someone they will be questioned and blocked if necessary. You know that’s for your safety, right?
Currently we are restricting members to join with the link. Only Admin managers of the group can send an invitation to someone. Admin managers are the only ones who can approve adding someone to the group.
So who’s game? Let’s get started! Ready, set... go! In Real Life Girls Community Link.
Don’t forget, you have to have a Google Profile to join, or you can ask your parents to use theirs. Questions? Post them here as a comment and we will do our best to get things resolved.
A bit more curious about Google Groups first? Here's the link to check out with much more information.
A new adventure, Ladies. Amen!

Just joined the group! This sounds great! It'll be nice to have a place that we know is not public so we can really talk. Thanks for setting this up! :)

How do I join? I pressed the button and it said "you do not have the necessary permissions to view topics in this group."

Grace Anne: Leah set it up so that anyone can apply to join but you're not technically part of the group (as in, you can't read any posts) until Mrs. Rue, Crystal, or Leah confirm you as part of the group. This is to help keep random people who aren't really part of the blog out of the group. Hope that made sense! :)

Just "applied for membership" as they put it and got the same response as Grace Anne (tho I'm assuming it's because we're waiting for confirmation...idk, google is complicated). ;)
Btw Mrs. Rue - I made my google account with my new email address but right now I'm still giving this webpage my old address, so that's why they don't match.

So you have to subscribe to the blog before you join?

Ashley, We want the girls who are actively participating on the blog. You don't have to "subscribe". We actually are not able to see everyone who reads the blog.
Abby, you are right! I just confirmed you & Grace Anne & Jenna T.
