Ahoy, Mini-Women! You've been doing a great job of saying good-bye to all the stuff you're going to leave behind for the rest of your journey to the True You. I think you're ready to go, so let's start with Step One, and that is (drum roll, please) -- TRY ONE NEW THING EVERY DAY.
Now, before you freak out, it doesn't have to be a BIG thing, like Captain jumping into the water for the first time. It can be something like:
* saying hi to that girl at school you've never spoken to before but you want to because she seems pretty neat
* using one of the week's vocabulary words in a conversation to see if anybody will notice
* trying pickles on your peanut butter sandwich instead of jelly
* doing two cartwheels in a row instead of just one
* asking God a question instead of asking for something
You might decide you like what you've tried. Or you might discover it isn't your thing. Or it could lead to something bigger. In fact, you might want to think of something HUGE you want to try -- but are scared to -- and break it down into small steps and try one of those. For example, I want to learn to ride a Harley but I'm still a little nervous about it, so I'm going to try starting up my husband's, just to see what it feels like (with him standing there, of course!)
In any case, trying one new thing every day means you'll learn one more thing about your real self every day. If you say hi to that cool girl, you'll know you're more confident than you thought you were -- not to mention friendlier. If you manage two cartwheels, you'll find out you're not a klutz after all. If you use that vocabulary word and somebody says you're weird and you don't die, you'll know being your own wonderful weird self isn't going to kill you!
Just do it! Just try one new thing, each day, for the three days of this weekend. Then post on Monday if you want and tell us what you did and what it taught you about you. And remember, this is a journey and God's your guide. Getting there is half the fun -- and ALL of the growth!
