Hello-o-o, Mini-Women! You are all OVER this secrets thing, and I love it! So let's go deeper. As MARGARET said in her comment, you're getting this whole concept and it's really starting to make sense. You're on a roll!
Tuesday is our day for adding to our Worthless Words list. This week, the WWs that come with telling secrets we shouldn't be telling can act like warnings to you. When you say them or hear them, you'll know a secret is about to go bad.
Here's an example:
"She told me not to tell anybody but . . ."
Um, if she said not to tell, there's no "but" about it.
So, let's add secret-related Worthless Words to our list. This is a little harder, so here are some guides that might help you think of these WWs:
(1) What are words you say/hear when a secret that shouldn't be shared is about to be? (Remember yesterday's NOT YOURS TO TELL SECRET?)
(2) What are words that seem make it 'okay' to tell somebody else's secret? Like when you're about to insult somebody and you say, "No offense, but . . ." Or when you tease somebody too hard and then say, "Just kidding." What are the words that "excuse" you for miusing a secret?
(3) What are the words you say/hear when a secret that needs to be shared with a grown-up is told (Remember yesterday's SHOULDN'T BE A SECRET?)
There ARE good secrets, fun ones, things that draw you and your friend together in healthy ways. The Worthless Words -- these Warning WWs -- are the ones we use when a secret ISN'T okay -- when it shouldn't be told or it should be told but to an adult who can help. Ask Lily deals with secrets, so if you have that one now might be a good time for a re-read.
Again, since this is a hard one, let's try for 10 by tomorrow (Wednesday). Are you up for it?
"Observe the people who talk before they think --
even simpletons are better off than they are." (Proverbs 29:20, The Message)
Dear God, please show us those "Warning Words" so we can look at them and know that when we hear them or are about to say them, our God-antennae need to go up. Please help us to think before we talk so those words won't cross our lips. We can't do it without you and without each other. Thank you that both are right here.
All right, let's hear those Worthless Words that Warn us!
