A good Seventh Day of Christmas to you, Mini-Women, and a Happy New Year's Eve! We've been celebrating all week, as you can see, and we'll top it all off tonight with homemade ravioli (you should see the cool special roller our Italian friends brought). I love to celebrate and I look for reasons to break out the special plates and light the candles, so New Year's is one of my fave holidays. I hope you celebrate the New Year your own self. And I also hope you do some glorifying, which is a whole other thing . . .
TODAY'S VERSE: "The sheepherders returned and let loose, glorifying and praising God for everything they had heard and seen. It turned out exactly the way they'd been told!" Luke 2:20, The Message
WHAT TO THINK ABOUT: When you have cake and ice cream for somebody's birthday or go out for pizza with your family when one of you wins a game or an award, that's celebrating. It's all about us. When we get home and crawl into bed and start our prayers and say, "God, you are awesome. This was all your doing, wasn't it? I can't even wrap my mind around it -- that's how amazing you are" -- that's glorifying. It's all about God.
WHAT TO DO WITH THAT: I hope you have a fabulous New Year's Eve, complete with those funky hats and noise makers and extra whipped cream on your hot chocolate. We need to celebrate the end of a year and the start of a new one. Absolutely. I also hope that somewhere in there -- before or after -- you take some time to glorify God for this new year too. I'm up before everyone this morning, talking to you and watching the first light of the sun turn the mist on the lake the kind of pink you want a sweater out of. I'm glorifying God for that beauty that goes on year after year, and I'm basking in the love I know will fill these next 12 months. When I sign off here I'll get another cup of hot tea and write in my journal and let God's goals for me this year whisper through my pen. How will you glorify?
And how will you fill in your square for December 31? (and by the way, ALYSSA, you crack me up!
I won't be posting tomorrow, but if you want you can play with the word RITUAL and put it in your square. I'll see you on January 2, 2014!!!!
