As you know, Miss Nancy won't be posting until December 2nd because she is travelling and spending time with her family over Thanksgiving. In Canada, where I live, Thanksgiving happened last month. I asked her if I could pop in for a minute and share some news with you.
I'm excited to announce a new book called Overcomers--Stories of Courage about Tweens Who Just Keep Swimming. It was inspired by a girl named Mallorie (that's her, in the picture). Mallorie has leukemia--that's a type of cancer--and she is a real overcomer. She has faced some pretty tough circumstances, but instead of wallowing she decided to, well, just keep swimming! You can meet Mallorie here.
The book is filled with short stories, including one by Miss Nancy. And guss what? I have a short story in there too. Mine was inspired by my niece Ralena, who is the only girl on her hockey team, and she plays goalie. I love that about her. She's pretty fearless, but it's not always easy to be the only girl. I think she's an overcomer too.
We'd like to give away TWO copies of the book, signed by me and Miss Nancy. Here's how to enter the draw...
- leave a comment that tells us about an overcomer, someone you know who is very inspiring even if they face difficult circumstances. Like Mallorie, it could be about overcoming an illness. Or like Ralena, it could be about being strong enough to do the unexpected.
- Remember to respect people's privacy. We want to be inspired, but also be careful of people's feelings.
When Miss Nancy gets back, we'll ask Maeryn to help with picking TWO names from the pile. I'll sign the books and mail them to Miss Nancy so she can sign them too. Then she'll mail them out to you.
The contest will run until Miss Nancy's next post. Ooooh, I'm so excited!
Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends. And for those of you who haven't already done so, make sure you go back to Miss Nancy's last post, and read what she had to say about saying Thank You.
love Miss Crystal
