Filling in the blank for J was a challenge, wasn't it?
"If I want to know how close God really is I need to be ______"
You came in with JOYFUL, JAZZED, JESUS-LIKE and more. Yes to all of those! The one I chose -- and some of you did too in some form -- was ....
Not, obviously, as in "just perfect" or even "just myself" (at least, not in this case). I'm talking about the kind of "just" that judges in court need to be.
What do you think that means? Remember when I said Tuesday that you're going to be doing all the work this week? Here's your next challenge.
Try to fill in the blank with an example from your own life, right now.
If I am going to be a just person, I need to_____________
I need to be fair when I'm talking to one of my friends about a problem we're having with another friend.
I need to tell my mom that my big brother is beating up on my little brother so the right thing can be done.
I need to forgive that absurd little creep boy who keeps trying to dunk me in the pool, but I also need to make sure the lifeguard knows what's going on so he doesn't hurt some other little kid.
I need to see both sides of the story -- mine and my mom's.
Will you share what you put in that blank? After all, if we're not being fair and right and just with people, that creates a space between us and our very just God.
